Resentation of ecological brands

Vitra

We represent international brands such as Vitra, a Swiss-German company, specializing in chairs and office systems. Vitra is a pioneer in Europe with the ecological management of their production.

"Our contribution to the conservation of the environment is not limited to a detailed analysis of materials and processes. All the aspects of the work in the business imply an ecological thought. In 1991, we created an internal ecological committee to treat environmental matters. This team identifies new tasks and project teams to find solutions. For example, Vitra only utilizes foam without CFC and toxic solvent-free adhesives and recycles as many materials as possible. Every time it is possible, we utilize recycled materials. Our objective during the production is to reduce to a minimum the levels of noise and emissions, as well as the waste. The packaging materials are reduced to a minimum and reused as much as possible. In March 1997 the Company passed a voluntary ecological audience. We believe that our most important contribution is the fact that we insist on producing lasting quality products with a timeless design. This means that our products can give years of service to their owners."

Human Scale

Human Scale is another company from the United States well known in the world thanks to creations such as the Freedom and Liberty chairs, winners of very recognized awards for its design.

The Liberty chair possesses very modernistic characteristics in the matter of sustainability. For example, it is manufactured with 50% recycled materials. Likewise, 95% of its components are recyclable.

“Humanscale is committed to environmental sustainability and continually strives to design, engineer and manufacture products that, compared to all others in the same class, consume less of the Earth’s limited resources. This is accomplished by creating products that weigh less (i.e., require less material), have fewer parts (i.e., require fewer manufacturing processes), contain a high percentage of recycled content (i.e., to reuse what’s been used before), and contain a high percentage of recyclable content (i.e., so the material can be used again).

In addition, wherever possible, Humanscale utilizes aluminum as its material of choice. Our Aluminum is 100% recycled and recyclable. It never degrades, so that it can be reused over and over again. And because recyclers are paid a premium for aluminum scrap, we believe that the aluminum in our products will almost surely be recycled when the time comes. Using aluminum usually costs us more than plastics or other alternatives. But our products are better for it. And so is the environment.

Overall, recycled and/or recyclable materials account for approximately 85% (by weight) of all materials in Humanscale products, and our packaging contains at least 40% recycled content. Our Freedom and Liberty seating lines are Greenguard certified. And most of our products can help projects earn points toward LEED-CI certification. In addition, all new Humanscale literature is printed on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper which ensures that the paper used is not from old-growth, threatened or endangered forests. Humanscale is also a strong supporter of the World Wildlife Fund, and our founder and CEO, Robert King, has served on WWF’s National Council since 1999.”
